National Garden Scheme

NGSOpen Day

The National Garden Scheme this year celebrates its 90th year.

Last year it raised £2.7m for charity - £190,000 from London gardens.

Charities: Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, Hospice UK, Carer's Trust, Queen's Nursing Institute .. and others)

"120ft garden belonging to a renovated and extended Edwardian house in Chipping Barnet. Six years ago this garden was a jungle, over half inaccessible because of a solid mass of brambles.

By April 2011 it had been cleared and new paths and lawn laid. Two garden buildings, with leaded-light windows, dating from the 1920s were relocated and restored.

The garden now boasts a “woodland walk”, goldfish pond and many ornaments, a host of plants and a veggie patch. Like most gardens it is still evolving. Tea and cakes, plenty of seating and some of our sculpture and pottery will be on display."
